Start with the customer's question
AEO is the practice of making a business and its expertise easier to discover, understand and reference in AI-powered answers. Start with questions that reflect a real decision: a product requirement, a local service or a comparison between providers. A long list of generic prompts is less useful than a small, relevant set.
Make the answer useful and verifiable
Publish accurate information about what you do, who it helps and what evidence supports it. Use descriptive headings, accessible text and working internal links. Structured data can describe content, but it does not replace a useful page. Google says its existing SEO practices remain relevant to its AI features and that no additional special markup is required.
Measure observations, not promises
Record the platform, date, question and conditions for each observation. Separate a brand mention from a linked citation and from a visit to your website. Repeat tests because answers change. A higher observed mention rate does not by itself prove incremental sales.
